FAQs

1. When are applications due?

Applications are accepted up until Friday, November 5, 2010 a 3:00 p.m. Late applications will be processed on a space available basis. Consideration for a seat in the class of 2015 will be given first to those applicants who have filed by the deadline.

2. Can applications be filed on line?

No. Applications are available for download on line, but all applications must be submitted via regular mail or in person.

3. Can an application be submitted at the time of the placement test?

No. If there is no application on file prior to the test date, the student will not be permitted to sit for the placement test.

4. Is there a make up test date?

Yes, the make up test date is Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. at Red Bank Catholic.

5. Are letters of recommendation necessary?

Letters of recommendation are always welcome and will be included in the student’s file; however, they are not required. The admissions committee’s primary focus is on the students’ academic, attendance and behavior records, as well as any standardized testing scores.

6. When will the acceptance letters be mailed out?

Acceptance letters will be mailed in early January, 2011. Every effort is made to mail out the determination letters in a timely fashion, and in conjunction with area private and parochial secondary schools. However, due to the large number of applications on file, we cannot guarantee that our letters will coincide with any other school’s acceptance letter timeline.

7. How many applications are received, for how many seats?

Red Bank Catholic receives approximately 550-600 applications for admission for a class of approximately 300 students.

8. How does the wait list procedure work?

If a student who has been wait listed wishes to remain active, we ask that the student continue to forward subsequent report cards for review. Should an opening occur, the Admissions Committee will review all students with active files to determine the best fit for the spot that has opened up. The wait list remains active until Labor Day.

9. If my student is accepted, when is the deadline for registration?

Upon receiving an acceptance letter to the Class of 2015, the student is asked to contact the Admissions Office by January 14, 2011 at which time a non refundable $300 registration fee is due to hold the seat. If the Admissions Office is not contacted by that time, the applicant’s file will be removed from the accepted list.

10. Is financial aid available?

Limited financial aid is available to qualified families in the form of challenge grants. Financial Aid applications will be available on December 6, 2010 and must be completed and submitted directly to FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment. The financial aid deadline is April 1, 2011. A copy of your completed 2010 federal tax return must be submitted with your application for financial aid. If you would like to receive a financial aid application, please indicate on the RBC application form.
